You know what is crap having to defend an honest statement for being anti-sony because it happens to portray them in a negative light. Apparently now saying that a someone might have a case against Sony because they had their building shown in a way they didn't approve of without their permission is a ludicrous idea. JSF I respect your opinion as well but would say a more apt comparison if your going to use the Louvre would be something like using the Louvre as the headquarters in a game for smuggling drugs in and out of the country through use of their art. Its something that they most likely would be opposed to and if they had not even been contacted about the game before it was published. Also if I remember right the Hunchback of Notre Dame had a positive affect on the Church of Notre Dame spuring public interest that helped in the restoration of the church not to mention they never opposed to the book in the first place to my knowledge.
Now stepping outside of the context of whether or not they could have a case I fully believe that its stupid as all hell for them to seriously believe that someone is going to say ohh look Manchester Church is good for gun fighting just like in this game I'm going to get my Bulleye out right now and get down there and start shooting but it doesn't change the fact that they might have a case far stupider cases have been in the past. Just off the top of my head a guy sues McDonalds for making him fat, smokers sue tobacco companies for being bad for them I think is how that one goes despite the fact that they had to smoke the first ciguarette for it to become addicting and yes putting contents hot on a cup of coffee and I think one of my favorite old ones was Beavis and Butt-head having to add a disclaimer because people don't know that fire burns things. But somehow all of these went through I didn't think whether or not it was good for video games in general was the topic we were covering if it was I'm completly on your side all this will do is drive up the cost of development as developers have to make sure they check with places they photo-realistically portray to make sure they are portrayed in a light that is agreeable with owners.
