It actually takes place during.  The "sister" with the black hair is in Lunatic I believe.

A lot of characters seems to be from Lunatic taker.. but if you thing about it.. Life is now of general knowledge.. wich at the end of the original wasn't thanks to the globalization of  LIFE, Inc. So it should be hapenning a lot of time after that.
