Today we learned that the PS4 has sold seven million units worldwide, but is the demand for Sony’s new console finally slowing down? Apparently it isn’t, at least since January.

Sony has given sales data for the PS4 at fairly regular intervals, and inserting those numbers in a spreadsheet, comparing them the date Sony has communicated for each figure, we get the graph below.

As you can see the PS4 had a natural initial spur in 2013, but what’s most interesting is what happens after December 31st. The line showing the growth of the installed base of the new console is impressively straight, showing no visible sign of a slowdown.

It almost seems designed on purpose, but it isn’t, and it certainly demonstrates that the demand for the PS4 continues to remain constant, at least for now.

We’ll have to wait and see just how long this impressive momentum will continue, but so far, so good.
