I feel that the market leaders, 3DS and PS4, are severely lacking in games so far considering how popular they've been.

Other than that it has been fine. The drama last E3 was great, and there's plenty of great games on the horizon.

Really? While the DS is my the platform I played the most games on (even more than PC) I find the 3DS to have surpassed it so far at this point in its life.

I mean, there is: LoZ: OoT 3d, Fire Emblem: Awakening, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Super Mario 3d Land, Pokemon X/Y, Bravely Default, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Mario Kart 7, Starfox 64 3d, Etrian Oddysey series, Kid Icarus, DKC:Returns 3D, Street Fight IV: 3D Edition, Shin Megamie Tensei IV, Resident Evil games, Heroes of Ruin, Monster Hunter 4, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Dragon Quest 7 Remake, Shin Megami Tensei spin-offs, Kingdom Hearts: 3D Dream Drop Distance, Rune Factory 4, Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy, Super Smash Bros 4, New Super Mario Bros 2, Persona Q, and probably many more that have been released or will be releasing this year.

That's about 30 games in a time span of 3 years on the market, of many different genres (albeit FPS's are lacking.)

I own about 4 of those, and I'm only interested in about 4 more. None of them I'd consider to be spectacular either. It's not exactly bad, but I certainly wouldn't say it's great considering how much the 3DS is dominating the handheld market.

Then again, you're right about it exceeding the DS (and the PSP) in the same time frame, so maybe handhelds will always seem lacking when compared to home consoles.

Maybe it's just that the genres and type of games on handhelds don't appeal to you. As a primarily PC/Handheld gamer, I find the 3DS to be very satisfying as far as its library is concerned.
