Just because he has extra cash doesn't mean he should spend more than he has too.  From a gaming perspective he made clear long ago the X1 has more to offer him...

He isnt the one spending the cash, someone else is buying one for him.

And history tells us the more popular something is the less reason they have to drop the price, where as the less popular, the faster the price comes down.

These things are not mutually exclusive.  In the console business costs are cut, one company cuts, and any company offering a similar product cuts not too much later.  The last two gens are a great example.  This only starts to fail at the very end of a cycle (as seen recently).  In other words, 5-7 years from now.

I wouldn't have him waste his associate's money either.  Quite aside from the fact that as it is clear which system best meets his gaming needs, he would be best equipped to be gaming for the next several years if he owned that system.
