Well, im not seeing any inaccuracies? or would you say they dropped the price out of the goodness of their hearts?
Would you chime in to ask if comments on sony selling buildings is a desperation move to stay afloat too? because those are invariably desperation moves by Sony in hard times, Microsoft is seeing Sony take a clear cut lead in most regions, they need to minimize the damage that lead does in any way possible, so they take a bigger hit per unit sold by dropping the price, as a "desperate act to prevent the gap between both consoles widening".

If you look at it realistically, the writing is on the wall with it, you dont have to take it so personally.

I didn't take it personally I'm happy with my PS4 and X1 at the moment.

The purpose of bringing it up is that even with the stellar sales of Titanfall for Xbox One, the hardware sales spike, despite being combined with a price drop and heavy bundling has not overshadowed the sales performance of the PS4 (which is worrying since there isnt really much going on with the PS4 right now), so it would seem as though for the short term at least the PS4 is going to continue to dominate.

Sooner or later Microsoft are going to react and try to salvage the situation (act of desperation, if you will) by either dropping the price further, or making a move conducive with being able to drop the price without taking a bigger hit) namely, they may well end up turning their back on the every-console-with-a-kinect dream and dropping the peripheral to release a cheaper SKU and salvage sales.

There are already high profile publishers and developers putting in their two cents with Microsoft to make the move since barely anything right now is utilizing the kinect enough to warrant its premium, instead the unit cost with its inclusion is a much greater detriment to the consoles popularity at this point in time.

Hence, if the console is being bought for him, choose the PS4 which isnt going to see a price drop officially for quite a while, and pick up a Xbox One which is either going to see another pricedrop (officially or unofficially) or a revised SKU that costs less too.

Microsoft have not dropped the price?  There was a small price cut in the UK alone?

Regional official pricedrops have a domino effect, some of the major retailers in the US are now dropping the price (walmart for example), including a newly released blockbuster title such as titanfall in a bundle at no extra cost over the stock SKU can also be considered a price drop, as anyone wanting to buy the game and console would be saving $50-60.
