Those "tedious" sections were called a "plot." Some games have this complex mechanic called "dialogue" in which they deliver this thing called a "story" which you think through using your "brain." Seriously Half-Life 2 may not be for everyone, but it's a story driven game and respect it as such. It in no way overstayed it's welcome if you like complex story development. | The driving section was boring as was the rooftop and graveyard section. Completely unessary and would've been easily taken out and still had all the story. |
I'm going to agree with selnor on this one, most of the game is jus added filler with no points and if moving boards around is part of the "Story" then Tetris must of have a great story 
I never even finished HL2 ep2 because it was just too long and boring, while a shorter more action packed game i have no problem beating them over and over again. The Halo series, CoD4, RFoM or R&C i have all beaten about 4times each.
