In the southern United States, most people have never even seen Hockey, much less played it. High Schools won't have it as a sport, unlike the other Big Three, which kills exposure. It's not like it's a sport where you can just get together with your friends for a few games on the weekend.
Personally, I like watching Hockey but most of my friends wouldn't know if they stopped playing tomorrow.
