Gees, people have to stop saying it's marketing and teething problems, we're 18 months in, that is beyond long enough for a product to get noticed.

I agree. It should be long enough for a product to get noticed. Sadly, it isn't in this case because Nintendo has been absolutely horrible at marketing it.

what more marketing could they do? there are commercials, ads what more? Lower the price, they could do that but they are already not making money on the system they would start losing money if they lower the price. Im going under the assmption that they will not add more marketing or lower the price, so i dont see why it would get an uptick outside of Mario kart and holidays

They could see it in Gamestop, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, etc. those arent some small chain stores they are huge. So yes i do think most people at least have seen one, but they simply dont care, its the opposite effect of Wii. Price isnt a problem of not caring. If they cared and it was too expensive they would wait for price drops, that didnt really increase WIi U fortunes when they did one, so i can only conclude price is not an issue its the product. PS4 xone support this as they are much more expensive and are doing much better. So it cant be the price unless even the Ninty faithful dont think Ninty systems are above a certain value.

The Wii U hasn't had a price drop yet. I don't know why people think this. The 32GB version replaced the basic version and that's it. It's always been $300 since launch. (Official retail price)

As for marketing, I saw a few commercials when Lego City came out over a year ago and a few during Holiday 2013 (for 3D World) and that's it. It's been about 10% of the marketing for the PS4 & XBO and then just released 6 months ago.

As for stores? Do you really believe that the average consumer randomly walks into Walmart, goes to the game section, and says "Hey let's buy this new $300 Nintendo system". I think not. Most of us, know what we plan to buy before going to a store. Plus, if they shop online, unless they decide to search "Wii" they will never know.

Anyway, I just wanted to see why everyone acts like Nintendo will sit on their hands and release only 2 games for the rest of the year and call it a day.

It's clear we have different views and now seem to just be trying to convince each other to think another way. I've enjoyed this discussion and see you guys do make some good points. Look forward to conversation in the future, but I think this is it for this thread :)

the 32gig was 350, its 300 now. How is that NOT a price cut? doesnt matter if the crappy sku was 300 before, its not even around anymore.

Ill give you that. its not marketed as much as PS4 or xone, but its not that bad. I see commercials and ads, but IMHO it still wont help much. Vita has even worse advertisment and its been doing better weekly than WIi U on average.

Thats not the point I was making. I never said they were going to just pick it up on a whim. You say no one knows about it. I say you are wrong because they are in stores, huge chains. But that goes back to my initial point they see it and they just dont care. So its not that they dont know WIi U exists it just does nothing for them.

No one is saying that Ninty is only releasing two games. WHat people are saying is that thsoe are the only two games that matter in actually moving significant HW. You think they are going to announce anything at E3 the level of Kart or Smash? doubt it.
