If its the proprietary memory cards that are holding it back, i wonder how the Playstation 1 and 2 ever survived.

Dont you think thats its a bit unfortunate to make such a big deal over a 20 euro memory card that usually comes bundled with the system or several games? No, its not. Its games, that is all.

Allowing non-proprietary cards would be to allow piracy in and effectively kill the system. Wich one do you prefer?

1) There were no widespread cheap SD cards back then.

2) Lack of games that matter is definitely a bigger issue, yes.

3) That excuse doesn't work when the 3DS uses common SD cards.

I was expecting someone to say that. The 3DS is a system much more closed than the Vita. The 3DS doesnt connect to your PC and Wii U.  It doesnt let you download and store stuff from the internet (except for the ones Nintendo allows on the eshop). To allow the openess of all those extra features, the system has to be locked somewhere else. Otherwise, its door open to piracy and no one will be bringing their localisations over for sure.

Again, its alot of QQ over 20 euros... and alot of lazyness.
