I imagine MLB does actually give PS consoles a pretty large boost in the long run. If you want to play a baseball game, you pretty much have buy a PS console if you want something decent.
Over the years MLB probably pulls in a couple hundred thousand customers. Sure it's no Halo or Uncharted, but ignoring it purely because it doesn't sell 5 million per release is pretty silly.
OT: TBH both the PS4 and X1 have a pretty lackluster year. I wouldn't say either is better right now.
