I would. X1 sold 1.1M so far this year and Wii U sold 0.5M, so the gap decreased 0.6M in the slowest 3 months of the year. If things remained this way, the rest of the year would remove 1.8M and end the gap, but we know that the others quarters will be higher, specially Q4, so the gap will shrink faster.

As we saw with Titanfall, a big game only gives a few weeks of better sales and things return to normal afterwards. Mario Kart and SSB will do just that. What increases sales with long term effects is a big library, a thing that PS4 and One doesn't have right now and that Wii U should have. I believe that the Wii U library won't improve because of the lack of 3rd party support while both PS4 and One will see improved sales after the big games hit (Watch Dogs, Destiny, CoD, AC: Unity). If Sony manages to get good japanese games on PS4, it will probably steal Wii U sales in Japan (without hurting X1 since Japan won't make any diff for it) and help X1 overtaking Wii U.

It's a matter of marketing. Everybody is talking about PS4 vs X1, the new console wars. To the public perception, Wii U is already out of the competition.

i don't know about shocked. wiiU has almost a 2M lead and xbone only outsold wiiU by 50k this week.

Considering X1 sold 85K and Wii U sold 33K, that 50K is more than double, it's a big difference.
