And here we have the post of the thread. I agree, the idea is for Nintendo to please the consumer. Not just the fans but the average joe too. As long as Nintendo doesn't embrace industry standards they will get shunned. Things like microtransactions and a paid online are the first steps into public awareness.

no. the first steps in public awareness are to put out a kickass game and advertise the hell out of it with the platform.
for months, ms and sony heavily marketed and pushed preorders for their systems on a scale nintendo has yet to match for anything they have done.
