It doesn't seem to limit the sales of the other 2 consoles. It's quite interesting to criticize the business practices of the successful products from the standpoint of the losing product. If Nintendo would introduce a System like PS+ where I could get new games every month for almost free it would get me to buy the WiiU even faster. But Nintendo is just too cool for mainstream. |
Sony only gives us games because otherwise it would be deemed unacceptable and there would of been much anger from people playing PS3. It's almost like bribery, except they've become very generous with it and of course I would except 5 games a month for free. Microsoft only pulled it off because Xbox Live had a subscription from launch of Xbox 360. The fact online is free on Wii U is a benefit for it but the libraries for the other two will be inevitably stronger down the line, which matter far more.
You can't say micro-transactions are the same, I doubt they affect the console sales, maybe individual games though. That is pure robbery anyway.
Yeah I would like free games from Nintendo every month too but they won't put their own franchises on it and that's basically all they have on Wii U right now (3rd party except indies have almost dried up). I except PS+ but micro-transactions aren't a good thing, no matter how you look at it.
Micro-transactions are a terrible excuse to shake more money out of us, especially if games become built around them like a lot of mobile games, that would be worrying for the future of the industry in general if they did that

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030
