And here we have the post of the thread. I agree, the idea is for Nintendo to please the consumer. Not just the fans but the average joe too. As long as Nintendo doesn't embrace industry standards they will get shunned. Things like microtransactions and a paid online are the first steps into public awareness.

Obviously neither Nintendo nor its fans want it to belong to the mainstream, so why do we even have this discussion?

It's not a discussion, I just agreed with your comment and proposed a good way for Nintendo to raise it's public awareness. Feel free to ignore my comment.
