Two sentences eh?  Well, here goes:

Jack Thompson is a lawyer who is out to ban violent video games, or rather, keep them from getting into the hands of minors; so he has in essence become an enemey of the video game industry because he believes that the governent needs to step in and regulate video games.  He has, in the past, been on campaigns against Grand Theft Auto, Bully, Mortal Kombat, Halo, Counter-Strike... basically any M-Rated game you can think of that has blood and gore (although Bully was rated T for Teen and featured no blood and the violence was almost non-existant anyway).

Now for something a bit more in depth, he is widely known for coming out and blaming video games for just about... well... all of socieites problems.  He has gone on record of saying that violent video games are worse for children than Drugs and Alochol combined and that they "train" them to become murderers.  When Virginia Tech happened, for instance, Thompson was on the news blaming the violent video games before the shooter was even identified (and then we came to discover that the shooter hadn't played a video game for over five years).

In the latest of news, he's out to try and stop the release of Manhunt 2 on the Nintendo Wii.

As much as I like VGChartz, I must be honest. I'm not too interested in the community. Most (I'd say a good 70% of the people here) are too caught up in the fanboyism and politics of gaming, and are mostly just people waiting to ravenously insult another user on the forums. I tried participating in the forums but rather than discuss it seems most of you would rather tear other people down. Why is it necessary to insult everyone who thinks differently than you? Also, not everything here is a fanboy conspiracy. I see the word fanboy here than I do on most forums out there. I'm sorry, I don't want to be a part of a community that's so negative towards everyone all the time. I'd rather go to a place where the people of a forum are more willing to discuss and step away from personal attacks any time someone disagrees with them. I just can't take it anymore.

So I ask, respectfully, that you don't add me. I'll more than likely respond to respectful messages but don't count on me being on the forums too much and don't count on me accepting your friend request.
