can you show me the link to the presentation? work in application is always splitted. but i would like to know, if they really splitted draw-calls (which should not be possible with the current X1 API) to multiple threads already. this would be new news to me, and i highly doubt that they already used this feature.

Did you really think the games are running making draw-calls in only one core of a weak CPU running at 1.7Ghz?

What DirectX 12 do is to split in a better way... DirectX 11 split the calls too.

you are right.

here the full directX 12 presentation btw: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/65778-directx-12-detailed-dx11-gpu-compatibility-more.html

multi-threading is still 50% more efficient than before though. (tested on 3D Mark)

seems like PCs are going to get more of a boost out of DX12 than X1. Awesome for my gaming PC =).
Lets hope it will be enough of a boost for X1 too, so that it decreases the gap between the ps4 further.

This is the most common mistakes from beginners...

Not only Xbone will get better software and development tools, also PS4 will get better and better year after year, like all consoles of all time; this is not the tomato special souce exclusive to MS.   The Gap will never get smaller.  PS4 has a superior hardware by a significant margin and this will never change. Both PS4 and Xbone will be better year by year, simply PS4 will always be better.  Deal with that, and let's enjoy the game experience.  Also, with PS4, 1st party devs will be able to go more close to the metal, so basicly I see the gap getting bigger, and not the opposite.

thats nonsense. the ps4 is a not by a significant margin stronger. the ps4 architecture is completly different than the x1 architecture. the x1 has a disadvantage in gpu and DDR3 vs GDDR5 performance. it has a superior cache (eSRAM) advantage though as well as 4 move engines embedded on the gpu (http://www.vgleaks.com/world-exclusive-durangos-move-engines/). does this make the x1 stronger? absolutely not. its a fact that the ps4 has more raw-power in a fashioned manner. x1 is different, has less raw-power and needs more finesse developing. the x1 is in a worse position atm, especially on the API side of things. but you can be sure, it will decrease the gap. directX 12 is the first step to it and more will follow. read this article: http://www.ign.com/boards/threads/so-could-the-x1s-secret-sauce-be-voxel-cone-ray-tracing.453362563/ . this will open your mind a little. there is much more to graphics-developing than pure raw-power.

i am not saying that the x1 is going to surpass the ps4. i am just pointing out, that the x1 has strengths in other departments and that its going to decrease the current gap.
