To the guy's credit, semantics come into play here. Doubling performance does not mean an actual 100% increase in performance, like going from 30fps to 60fps. In fact, you need a lot more than 2x the performance to actually jump from 30 to 60, let alone from 720/30 to 1080/60. Hardware power and development is not linear.
Nobody's "upset", it's just that it's amusing how something that happens in every generation is being claimed as "secret sauce". So secret that it applies to every console, amirite.
