It's not like you can have a tablet on a stand on your lap on say the bus and use a proper controller. It just won't work and most mobile games don't support game controllers anyway. At least with 3DS and Vita, the controls are built into the device and all developers are likely to use them. Developers rarely develop features in games for accessories but by having something included in every unit, developers are far more likely to use it.
Even though tablets are very portable, the setup in the tweet isn't practical really
