Aesthetically it follows the atavistic styling of the series which seems to be a post-ironic realization of a new modern folklore. The gag had a narrative that was episodic in scope; but it was merely droll, not witty, A true fan of the series will appreciate this work, the uninitiated may find that it appeals to only those with an acquired taste.

I don't know, I felt like it was more a comment on post-ironic than post-ironic itself.  The humor inside took on a larger scope than what is usually seen from traditional post-ironic pieces and the use of a more primitive drawing decice sets it apart from what is normally seen in post-irony.  I do agree with you assertion, though, that many will be turned off by the whimsical nature of it all.
