Dogs are by far the better pets. I will give you the reasons why.

1. Dogs are functional they have been bred to serve specific purposes. Dogs save human lives every single day around the world. They help feed their masters. They protect live stock. They are used to detect dangerous substances. They will often fight to the death to protect their owners.

2. Dogs are customizable they come in hundreds of breeds to suit your lifestyle and your personal choice of aesthetics. Dogs are as domesticated as any animal can be, and they are completely at home with humans. You can choose a breed for any number or reasons. Temperaments are by far the best feature.

3. Dogs have personality real personality. No two are identical they have preferences, quirks, and are expressive. They are so expressive that humans can readily identify a dogs emotions just from the pitch of a bark. Dogs really do talk to their owners.

4. Dogs are more intelligent and more interactive. You can play with them in a number of ways. You can tickle, play fetch, walk them, and wrestle with them.

I like cats fine. However they are not the superior pet. They are hardly domesticated. Hardly functional beyond the ones that can kill vermin. We have breeds of dog that do that as well. They are hardly interactive when compared to dogs. Finally most cats will not even give you unconditional love. When a cat meows that has a actual meaning.

The meaning roughly translates to I do not trust you, but I will let you feed me. Cats raised with only humans will not meow at a human. That is the best advice I can give you. Get them before their eyes are open, and if at all possible get a feral kitten. They make the greatest mousers.
