I wonder if part of the reason they went with Spencer is that he does bring that "about the games" perception, as opposed to bringing someone over from another division. It's no secret that they were hurt badly by taking gamer interest for granted and displaying the XO as a media machine at the reveal.

I think Spencer is a good choice but it's also obvious that we're hearing a planned PR message. Not saying that it's not true, just that they're aware now that the gamer demographic has to be won before moving on to other audiences.

Regardless, I really like when the software guys gain power. I think Yoshida's influence has been a major turning point for Playstation and possibly even an influence on Spencer being named Xbox head.
