Not the only series with this problem, too many series last gen that if you didn't play the last 1 or 2 iterations, you missed nothing.

Gears 3 is at 6 million. Gears Judgement can be attributed to a different studio not making the same level of quality as well as not being a heavily marketed holiday release but I do agree that many IPs from the big 3 dropped off in sales with their sequels. Guess that is the business as a gen ages.

I loved gears 3. Judgement to me, sucked, but as you said, that's due to the developer. I will pick up an x1 for the new gears if it resembles gears 1-3, I'll skip it if it resembles judgement in any way shape or form.
