Dont get me wrong, running around the city beating the snot out of people with the Neon power is damn fun, but when its the same enemies youre fightning over and over again its just not all that fun. This is the games main problem. Not enough variety. Could do with a bunch of work put into the movesets, enemies, missions or the city itself. |
Ok, so maybe this is not your game, people have different tastes, but something about sandbox games for me, is that basically, you spent 20, 30 hours doing the same 3-4 things against the same enemies too. That's why i'm not a huge fan of sandbox games, they become repetitive for me. I beat AC IV recently and the core mechanic was repetitive too. Just get your boat across the sea fighting against other ships. And the character gameplay mechanics have the same problems (beat your enemies always the same way, spy following an objective, sack a bulding to get materials, etc). I can say similar problems with GTA games too. Go to from A to B, in a vehicle, then kill everyone, or play the same minigame 4 o 5 times in different locations, etc....
To me, every sandbox is repetitive by nature, but at least, if i'm going to do the same thing over and over, at least, be fun and spectacular, and in that respect, Infamous SS was more fun in its core mechanic than AC IV or GTA V , and don't get wrong, i liked those games too.
Infamous SS at least is fast paced and more short that those games, so you don't spent much time wasting time. It's one of the more action based sabdbox games out there.
