The banning of d21lewis aside, there's a laundry list of reasons why Xbox Live is better than Nintendo's Network. For my money, it is indeed $60 better. I prefer Nintendo to Microsoft but I call 'em like I see 'em.
-Cross game chat
-More media features/apps (ten times more, AT LEAST)
-Game invites
-Better matchmaking
-More stable (though XBL was garbage last night....)
-Gameplay video/Screenshot sharing (Xbox One)
-Free games
-Demos for ALL Indie/Arcade games (with unlimited replays, too)
-Free downloadable videos, TV Shows, etc.
-Faster updates (360. Not sure about the One, yet)
-Voice/Picture/Text messages
Meanwhile Nintendo boasts
-Free
-Miiverse Community
Also I've been able to get into games YEARS after release (Burnout Revenge had a community up until termination and I can still get into a game of Call of Duty 2 from 2005 right now.) while some Wii U games are ghost towns online right after launch.
Even the things the Wii U does well like video chat with the pad, the Kinect(s) do it even better. It's not even a contest.
