He's the president of NoA, I think handling PR should be as natural to him as breathing.
He could've elaborated, something like: It’s all about the games. The competitive systems have announced their launch lineups. I think we have better offerings.

Not exactly what he said though, and in PR it's far more about how you say something than exactly what you say. If Sony had said that they think the DS has a different target demographic than their handheld offerings most people would have thought of that as reasonable even if they disagreed, but instead the Sony exec said the DS was a babysitting device. Same thing here with Reggie, if he'd been more cordial and less flippant noone would remember the statement, but he wasn't.

I don't think unmemorable statements are particularly good PR, either.
