Take a ride on the monorail, infamous1 & 2 had a steadier framerate than second son. I think it would have been better if Sucker Punch just locked the framerate at 30 and left it alone. Honestly the only game to "wow" me so far has been Ryse. We all know the framerate is slow, but at least its pretty steady 99% of the time and certain scenes on that game are incredible. Killzone is also a game that looks amazing in parts and keeps a steady framerate. Only time will truly tell if we have a noticeable persistent gap in games in the future. Launch games never are a good indication of a system's true potential. |
This. Kinda.
I was playing Second Son last night and suddenly, the game didn't look so good to me. In fact, it started looking kinda bad. Maybe due to the open world nature. Maybe due to uninspired environments and character designs (aside from a few main people). All I know is that the view from the Space Needle should have wowed me. Instead, it made me think that 8th gen isn't going to be that impressive. I guess I just have to be patient.
So far nothing, and I mean NOTHING, on PS4/Xbox one has impressed me graphically or gameplay wise. The controllers feel good. The hardware seems solid and their interfaces seem cool. The games? Not at all. A game like Beyond on PS3 looks more "next gen" to me than the PS4/Xbox One titles I've played so far.
