While I agree the reason as stated is iffy and probably 'dumbed down' a little too much, Rocksteady is of course right in not bringing over this game. If I were a third party publisher, I wouldn't just bring over any game either, I'd be pretty picky about it.
That said, if they really wanted to, the game could be made to work on WiiU. Any game could. However, Nintendo's choice to go with PowerPC combined with it's low sales are really hurting it. Now that the PS4One both went with x86 architecture (Nintendo's bad luck) it's just too much trouble to convert these games properly to run well on WiiU. In the end it isn't worth it when sales are so low.
