I know that, my post was meant to illustrate that the original Virtual Boy was anything but VR, and that the 3DS basically does the same thing the VB did only way better, so there's no need for Nintendo to attempt to make a VB2 because they already have it in essence. I wish they would do more augmented reality stuff... I'd much rather that be put to good use than another failed attempt at a VR headset. |
Well Virtual Boy is more like the 3DS when it comes to the 3D effect I agree. Ofcourse much much better and improved on the 3ds. Augmented reality can be done with a VR headset better than any other technology we currently have tho. With two videocams mounted on the headset its easy to overlay the reality with pixels. Nintendo failed because they tried too early maybe they can succeed this time and Nintendo has to do something anything. VR is very compelling and everyone that tried it will attest to that. The motion sickness problems have been vastly reduced in the newest prototypes maybe thats a reason why Facebook decided to dump 2 Billion in the tech. I think the technology that Nintendo has for lag reduced transmission of video data would help extremly for a VR headset as there would be more freedom with batteries it could be completly wireless which would improve the experience immensly.
I dont think Nintendo should do a console named Virtual Boy 2 but I think they could take the risk and give the homeconsole thing a last shot with a fresh virtual reality nextgen system in 2016. Third person games like Mario and zelda would look like a parallel universe you can watch from above. And Nintendo is good at gameplay just as Mario 64 showed the world how 3D Platformers are supposed to be Nintendo could again do the same for VR.
And augmented reality+VR work much better than augmented reality+normal screen.
