And that's what breaks it. You didn't even take into account the performance hit of AA and proper vsync.

You need to look at current games. They didn't manage to do AC4 or ISS in 60fps. What makes you think they'll manage that with one of the most graphics intense games of last gen? I'll tell you that not even Uncharted, which will be highly optimized for PS4 will run 60fps.

I did take it into considering. As i said, if they changed nothing but the resolution and frame rate it would require 5 times the power of the PS3. If we assume Sony's statement that the PS4 is 10 times more powerful than the PS3, then that leaves an awful lot of power for AA, texture improvements and what not :P

As i said in my last comment, a lot of it will come down to effort. I'm sure you can understand the flaw of using AC4 as an example, when it's performs worse than ISS (which looks considerably better, with some damn fine AA). It all comes down to how much effort is put in. Purely in regards to hardware though, the PS4 can manage it no problem at all.

If it can run an open world game like infamous with it's particles, lighting, AA and textures at 1080p/30-40fps, it should be able to achieve 1080p/60fps on a last gen title with enough room for plenty of other improvements.

Remember, we aren't talking about a full remake here. It's an improved next gen version, likely akin to the HD re-releases we saw on the PS3 (which were 1080p/60fps + better AA and textures versions of their predecessor as well).
