Very few people still care about the bad press, it was nearly a year ago afterall. Most people forgot or just didn't care about it to start with. Price is the only thing holding the Xbox One back from reclaiming it's lead markets and coming in at a close 2nd globally.

Lol. A lot of mainstream consumers don't even know about the 180. They still equal Xbox and Kinext with NSA^^

Reputation is everything. That's why people buy overpriced luxury goods and stay away from cheap garbage.

Also, you can't really argue that the people who already bought a console are the most money savvy consumers ;)
