I agree with your general review.The combat of infamous is too fitting in simple molds however. The three powers besides video all fit into the categories of missile, regular shot, bomb etc. Only 1 power strays from that path which was rather disappointing. The villain was a bit too one dimensional. Her only role was to get you to hate her and she does that finely. She didn't get much back story until the end of the game. She was simply there to get our hero to Seattle. Side quest were just boring like you said. No interesting side char or anything of the sort.
