Although it is worth noting the story has taken a depressing turn for the worse.

Not surprised to see the "Christians" judging and treating others gracelessly. Disgusting, ugly wastes of clay. Also, LOL at the Adam and Eve comments, that nonsense has been tossed around and revised so many times it's ridiculous. An inconsistent story even by the standards of the Abrahamic religions.

Adam and Eve?  Not sure where that's from.

Outside which, i'm not sure i'd consider it safe to assume the kids are even christian.

Homophobia in schools is generally a widespread occurence that has nothing to do with religion.

Or at least, not the religion practiced.

As most kids are homophobic and pretty much none of them care about religon...  past how it might ruin their weekend if their parents drag them to church

Did you not even glance at the article that you yourself posted? "God created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve" among other religious quotes are clearly visible. Also, I don't know what it's like where you live but homophobia in my region is almost exlusive to "Christians" and men who are struggling with their own sexuality.

I'm not reading that anywhere in the article.  (Edit: Oh the pictures... so you used one picture out of 4 to stereotype an entire class group... really?)

We are talking about this article correct?

Outside which, saying that homophobia is limited to christians and men struggling with their own sexuality is like saying that Racism only exists among Republicans from the south.

It's a blatant untruth that hides casual homophobia/racism.

Outside which... "men struggling with their sexuality."

That's pretty much the definition of being a male in highschool.  It's called puberty.
