It's effectively just a small tax and really won't be a big deal, it is just a small little bonus for original backers As for the price of ships, yes they are absurd and slightly concerning. But the studio definitely has its heart in the right place and I feel that it will be balanced appropriately. The problem was they set them too high at the start, since they didn't anticipate this demand. But they can't exactly lower them now without creating a huge problem can they? They say that if you can't play enough, then you can save time, by spending a money. But when a fighter like the hornet costs over $100, it is at the very least going to take you a while to get there But anyway, for now I'm just looking forward to actually being able to fly me ships next month

Most people expect the prices to go up. Apparently the ships are being offered at a massive disount, at least from what I could tell from community discussions and forum posts. It's just worrying that it's following the path of other pay-to-win games in which whoever invests the most cash in micro-transactions will come out on top. I agree though, the studio definitely wants to make the best game possible, I just owrry that they are getting a little too greedy.

It's not about greed, it's about some precedents they set at the start when the future was far from certain. They can't just make all the ships dirt cheap now that they've got all the older backers money and equally it would be stupid to stop allowing people to back the game
It's not pay to win because there's no winning. Most of the time you are going to fighting against AI and you can certainly keep it that way. You won't be able to just buy ships when the game comes out, you will be able to buy credits, but only in limited quantities
Just looking through this thread, there is a dangerous amount of mis-information out there

What mis-information? The economy of the game has never looked more pay-to-win than it has now. They even got rid of lifetime insurance. C'mon, you can only go so far with your fanbase before people get weary. How is this not pay-to-win?
