As I understand there isn't a tradition of homophobia like there is in some western countries. Doesn't some of the old art show same sex relationships? Like it does for Japan's Samuri. I don't know if you saw, but at the New Year's Day Parade - for year of the Wood Horse I saw there was a big group of Chinese (Native and local born) that supported their gay and lesbian kids and same sex marriage. It was nice to see. Link here: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=177529&page=1 |
Yeah that is true to a degree actually. I guess in Asian culture it's not as important to put people in a specific cathegory/sterotype/whatever. Like, many people here just eat vegtables and never eat meat, but they wouldn't consider themselves as vegans or vegetarians. They just simply don't eat meat, nothing more to it. And noone really cares if you eat meat or not.
In "the west" there's this whole thing about belonging to something or being something special. And people will love or hate you for it. The whole vegetarian, to eat or not eat meat in the west is out of proportions from my point of view. Some people will hate on you for being a vegan or gay. Why? I can't see the reason for it. Sorry I went so off-topic. :P
But yes I can see that too, I think gay marriage will be allowed here in the future for sure, because no one doesn't really care about it to be honest. It's just in the law and there hasn't been any discussion about changing it yet, that's about it. There are many gay clubs or dating websites and such, freely open, no restrictions. So being gay is okay, but getting married is still not in the law. I have even been to gay clubs when I go out to party, and I am not even interested in boys or men, but if I like the club I can go there and have fun. I don't think that many straight men or women go to gay clubs to party in the west, but I could be wrong.
But also in China for example, you get married because you want to start a family and have children. It's very traditional. So I don't even know if gay people in China wants to get married? It might sound strange but it might not even be in their interest.
And to be honest, the Chinese government would love it if more people went gay, there would be less babies and less problem with the massive population. :P
