CladInShadows said: It isn't really one particular point in the game, but Final Fantasy 8 is where the series....not so much jumped the shark...but this was the point that I realized that the series wasn't infallible. Since that game, there were maybe 2 main series games that I really enjoyed. Of course, there have only been 4 main series games (not counting sequels) since then, which is an entirely different issue that I won't get into. |
I loved ff 8. What was it that make you feel that way? For me it happened after 10.

Well, if it's what I'm thinking of, it's where they all realize that they all went to the same orphanage together (except for the cowboy douchebag) but they all just forgot because the espers (or whatever they called the summonable monsters I forget) gave them amnesia/one of the dumbest and most unnecessary plot twists in the history of of story telling.

Lol. i thought it would be the crappy drawing system.
|
Well there's that too, since the draw system essentially just made magic into a secondary item system. However, the junction system is just sort of broken to begin with and frankly I felt the problems with the story overshadowed any issues I had with junctioning.

All of these things, plus getting a salary, and enemies that level up with you and the completely unlikeable protagonist. And at the time, I was pretty disappointed with the sci fi setting, though I've come to terms with that since then.

I loved the card game though.
