I am more surprised that it isn't M$ announcing this kind of tech.  But, If they show something this fall, that would match my ongoing theory that they launched atleast 6 months earlier than they originally planned.  It seems that most of the XB1's capabilities and interface are coming along 6 months after launch.  Later this year (if you believe that DX12 will help) the XB1 will perform a little better.

Yeah, from what I've read, DirectX 12 might indeed help a lot. By the time DX12 games become mainstream, 1080p60 games will probably be standard on XB1 as well. On the other hand, I think I read that the first games using DX12 are expected to be released about the end of 2015, so that might still take a while.
