Many producers and mastering filming movies and TV shows for a while in high resolution, so the source material is present, but as always with this kind of business is it ultimately boils down to licensing and money.

Ill believe it when i see the content, to me right now this just stinks of marketing to get people to sign up to netflix when they buy there new Smart TV's. 

Uptake of 4k is gonna be a snails pace compared to HDTV, especially if the only place to get content is 1 web streaming service. 

not only netflix : Amazon, Hulu, YouTube

And to think the FIFA WC will be in 4k don't think cable compagnies won't try to take advantage of that which deluxe subscriptions
