Do you find it weird how fast some third developers are moving on to current gen only titles?

Honestly, this is nowhere near as quickly as things have moved on in the past. Cross generational titles used to be a big deal (Twilight Princess being on both the Gamecube and the Wii being probably the most notable). Now it's fairly common place.
