Killzone sf is 1080p single player and multiplayer. People try throwing out 960x1080 I believe. Look at an interview with the producers of the game. It mostlly 1080p, but parts of the farame are in a lower resolution to keep performance up. It's pretty common in the gaming industry to do this to boost performance. Most people would just never comment on it.
And no, res isn't the only thing in a game. As a hardcore PC gamer, I'm very aware of this. But the fac of the matter is, there's basically always a resolution increase between generations. Also, the number of pixels displayed on the screen makes a large difference on other things that can be displayed, like details and AA.

I know the SP is 1080p, that's why I said MP. The MP is not 1080p. Or, if you want to talk semantics, it's not native 1080p. It tries to simulate a native 1080p image without pushing the pixels of a native 1080p image. And it does so using a technique that blurs the hell out of the screen when you move, which defeats the whole purpose of 1080p anyway. Either way, that was not the point. The point was lots of people praised the game and used its native 1080p60 MP bullet point as ammo for console wars, and these very people had no idea that the MP was neither 1080p or 60 frames per second. So what have we learned? Either the people making such a big deal about 1080p are full of bulsh, or most people cannot even tell the difference. Or, as a bonus, maybe both?

1080p games existed last gen, so there hasn't been any resolution increase yet, no matter which console you buy. I guess we'll finally enter next gen when 4K games start coming out. Until then lets wallow in our current stop gap gen technology :(
