The one legitimate complaint I read about in the Game Informer review revolved around the combat. It sounds like you can get through most of the combat in the game by mashing the X button - you don't even need to look at the screen.
Still, I'm something of a whore for FF VII (though I avoided Dirge of Cerebus) and it sounds like the story bits are definitely worthwhile.
