PS1/PS2, Xbox and Gamecube look like crap on any "HD" TV. And the jump to 720P was a big then. This gen is no different. Though, the visual leap is not as pronounced as 480p to 720p.
If we look at phones and tablets.. same thing. Once you get used to seeing better screens, its hard to go back. It's why many PC gamers snub at resolution and graphics wars on consoles. We've had games in high resolution on PC way before "HD" came along and became the marketing buzzword as it is today.
