There is still the big issue that the xbox one only has 32MB of embedded memory. We see the xbox one struggling with resolution and frame rate and this limitation will be greatly increased when generating VR graphics. The PS4 has a huge technical advantage here.

Xbox one VR will look quite basic and not be competitive with ps4. Just look at 3D support on the ps3 compared to xbox 360. The 360 had a better gpu and 10MB of very fast embedded video memory but once the 360 had exceeded the 10MB it became far more limited with inferior 3D and 1080p support. Then the ps3 had the advantage due to access to 256MB of video memory without the 10MB barrier. Both xbox 360 and one perform at their best if they can keep graphic assets/data like the frame buffer in their embedded fast memory. This time around the ps4 not only has a far superior gpu but increased memory bandwidth too.

Clearly its PC's that really have the power to perform VR well. However Sony provides the hassle free version that also performs to a good level. The difference between VR on ps4 and xbox one will be far wider than the difference between conventional single screen games on ps4 and xbox one.

Whatever your reasons for buying a Xbox one it shouldn't be for future VR support.
