The fact that a good chunk of the reviews that make up Metacritic scores use different grading scales means that Meta scores really shouldn't be taken seriously.
Think about it. This thread is about applying a subjective rating to a score that is made up a bunch of other subjective ratings. Pulling an absolute out of that mess is close to meaningless.
Personally, I look at Meta scores as nothing more than a guide with a very wide +/- range, and then as only context to the actual review article. The words are the important bits.
