Maybe people like things they are not forced to buy :)

Spoiled westerners acting like ANYONE is 'forced to buy' a video game system.

Well you are forced to buy the Kinect if you just want an X1. That's what I meant.

Yeah I get you but that's like saying you are 'forced to buy a powerful GPU if you want a PS4.' It's a feature that many people are excited about, and the main differentiator for the X1.

With the exception that the APU of the PS4 is the reason why people are buying the PS4 and the Kinect is not for the X1. To be honest, I don't get the people genuinely not wanting the Kinect. I mean I can understand that they want to pay less but having a grudge against a piece of add-on hardware is just silly.

That's like saying I won't buy the PS4 until they unbundle the crappy mono "headset".

I'm one of the (moderate) "haters" ;)

First, I can't dissociate hardware and price. The crappy headset is OK because it's a cheap addition. If Sony was explaining that for that crappy headset I have to pay 100$ more and can't have 1080p, I would hate the hardware add-on the same.

2nd, I really see that kind of controller outside of gaming. I don't want to use for gaming, I don't like games using it, so for me Kinect has no gaming value. I don't care if other people are ready to pay to play it, but if MS have a grand strategy about "every console bundled with Kinect so we will have a giant Kinect market ftw" and see benefit in it, they should take in charge the cost. Imho, It's not like a headset or BR, it's like adding a plastic guitar because they want to sell guitar heroe a lot more.

Last, it makes the market less competitive and fun, like there is only 1 console that fit my needs. On PS2 area, I bought GC and PS2, and would have bought an Xbox if I had more money. Nowaday, I would not buy any console except for PS4.
