Correction:
I had some bad data on GoW. Wiki was way off on its sales figures. The first game sold around 2.8m copies, about the same as the first DMC.
My point still holds true, though. It's not a huge system seller. You don't hear people talk up DMC the same way you do GoW even though the DMC series has been slightly more successful.
