I'm thinking that this gen will give us an idea if it's even a viable format, but I do not think that it will be technologically advanced enough, made high quality enough and be affordable enough to become a big thing for this gen of systems. 3D in movie theaters has been huge for a while now, but is not becoming mainstream in homes. Look how long it took/is taking for HD tvs to become commonplace.
Not that it can't be the thing of the future for gaming, but I don't believe it will be right for the gen that is now in place.
