The exploration on zelda involves chatting to characters, mini games in town, lots of puzzles. In Ys, theres nothing of the sort. The exploration there is is just a corridor where you kill more enemies. You kill thousands of enemies on YS. You drill them by the dozens. On zelda you usually never have more than 2 or 3 enemies on screen at once and only on certain areas and dungeons, while on Ys they are everywhere except on the towns.

Sorry, but they feel nothing alike. Ys is mindless action based that can get a bit repetitive, Zelda requires more thinking and is slower paced. If just having a town and an overworld makes them similar games, then what do we need gameplay for? Also, every game has bosses. :P

There are tons of puzzles in Ys, especially the newer titles. Memories of Celceta has tons of characters to chat to, some of which will even ask for your help in doing something. There were minigames like the mining minigame and the treasure hunt minigame. In Ys, the bosses do require strategy, you have to hit them at their weak point or use a certain item to beat them. The dungeons also have tons of puzzles. Enemies aern't everywhere in Zelda? OK, Ys has tons more, but in games like ALttP and ALBW there are enemies everywhere, which usually require just slashing your sword repeteadly to beat. The dungeons in Ys take about as long, if not longer, to beat than the Zelda ones, and the bosses are harder. I don't know how much of the recent Ys titles you've played, but I can tell you that the're not nearly as dumbed down as you make them sound.

Puzzles on Celceta? Do you mean stuff like the special passages in the forest where there is one trick you must figure out? That is hardly a puzzle...

Again i will have to disagree. The mindset of playing an Ys game and a Zelda game is completely different and the gameplay feels completely different. For example in the combat, Ys has several skills and special attacks. Zelda has a more limited move set with mostly regular attacks but with more weapon variety.

I dont know how this isnt clear, but oh well... Ys is a more mindless game. Though i love it too. :)
