I agree that buying this could establish a precedent. What if game developers start looking at this like a DVD/BluRay purchase. Movies are typically 1-2 hours and people will pay $20-$30 for it.
In that perspective, they could be trying to change a consumers perspective on price/time ratio. After all, compared to the above example, a 5 hour game at $30 would be a bargain.
