This might be off the point but I always cringe when seeing PC market since the majority of people only use Steam, with few exceptions. An indie who can't get on Steam is basically left in the dark unless they're an anomaly |
Do you actually game on PC? Amazon, GMG, Good Old Games, and many others have been giving Steam a run for it's money for a while now. Even for Steam-only games like CoD, Valve doesn't take any royalties from sales on other sites like Amazon so they can only generate revenue from sales made through Steam itself. Valve it probably one of the only companies in the world with the power to control almost all the PC market, but they chose not to in an effort to sustain the openess of the platform. The competition for PC games prices has never been fiercer.
